Glory


Above, the sky wilds from the sun-tinged west
and folds, blue gray black,
over east's spring golden branches.
A gull shoots through raindrops
in lines precise as some carven thing
fashioned and animated to scale
the sky's grand and terrible sea.

Below, cars slide across charcoal pavements
and spilled oil rainbows.

  1. I knew I had seen the "oil rainbows" before. It is such a wonderfully mixed image of God's beauty coming from human waste and spillage of God's natural earth.
