If I could explain
the space to you--
wide, white fields spread
to blue-white horizon--
then, perhaps,
you would understand.
If I could unveil
the monument of a white barn
in a white field, a gray roof
against a blue-white horizon . . .
If an x-ray could show
the rose circled sunrise
and the blue shadowed snow--
then, perhaps, there would be
no need to explain.
Beautiful, serene, focused. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mrs. B! What kind words!
DeleteYes!
ReplyDeleteI love to "see" you here, Dr. Impson :)
DeleteYour vers libre has the security and resolution that we associate with more formal verse -- and yes, your painterly eye and unerring ear!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Thomas D! I hardly consider my ear "unerring," but I've often wondered if years of Suzuki violin coupled with being that slow kind of reader who hears EVERYTHING (complete with inflections) in her head have a payoff here. At any rate, thank you for your kind, cheering words.
