Chicago Blizzard of 2011

The following are various impressions of our snowstorm. While it scarcely rivaled the fierce events chronicled by Laura Ingals Wilder, it was still large and wild.

Blizzard

The wind
is an artist
making
or destroying
a thousand
pure white masterpieces
in one long
night.

* * *

A blizzard is
a long white wind,
a snow-serpent's yawn,
an ascetic's passion,
the arctic licking
our tame backyards.

* * *

Snow and wind in city lights
night
turned white

  4. Dr. Impson--thanks!

    I enjoyed glimpsing a bit of your family through your post about seeing your youngest off. Having two kids up here seems like a good excuse to come visit :)
