This Little Light

You are a higher wattage than most of us.
It must be tiring sometimes--
the brilliance of your emotions,
the intensity of your visions--
such passions contending
in such a little boy.
You are the brightest light--
drawing your peers like moths
or scattering them like beetles.

It's all right, buddy--
in the end, we are all the same,
so tiny and so huge.

  1. I wonder if at some time in the future you might share this poem with this bright light. Words from teachers can mean so much - but I know you need to be careful about these boundaries. But it is a lovely image - attracting and scattering peers. The small and huge aspect of being a human being is well put. It sets the mind thinking.

    1. Thanks, Newell. The children give me a lot to think about.
