Walk the rails under a high blue sky. Find the sag in the leaning fence, and step--carefully--over rusted wire. Follow a peninsula of blond grasses through a lake of loam, and come, at last, to the timber's edge where gray branches trace the sky and rose hips curl near purple canes.

February
The toughest month to spell inscribes a chalk dust sky with inscrutable lessons
After 45 years without contact, I now correspond with my first girlfriend. We both have February birthdays. This past year she wrote "Happy birthday month anyway. I kind of like having a February birthday when everything is kind of gloomy - it perks me up a little even if we are getting older." I am a horrible speller, but I know how to spell my birthday month!
Lovely.
