For The Ones Who Don't Know They Do

I look at you and see God's work
in the hewing of your heart
and wending of your desires
into channels crafted to carry
living water.

But you see
how your experience fails
to shine like others.
You do not cry or laugh
or stretch your arms in ecstasy.
You do not effervesce--
and if you did,
we'd all be shocked.

Yours is not the quaking,
catastrophic kind of change,
but the slow turning of a pebble
in a current much greater
than yourself.
