Took my life to the
white elephant sale.
Laid it out on the
folding table.
Set it next to an
old red pail
and a sword for
opening mail.
Waited to see what
it might fetch,
slouching, hang dog,
quite the wretch,
a good home--huh,
what a stretch!
Never guessed what
happened next.
He took my life from
the reject pile,
washed away what
made it vile,
spent the blood of
His own exile--
the veiling of His
Daddy's smile.
Warmth and safety,
place and home--
got no reason
now to roam,
but if He called then
I would come
to the center
of the sun.
Elena, I think this is one of my favorites so far (though its hard to choose!)
