In the library

Sometimes a children's section can make you cry . . .
all the great, huge ideas in little words,
all the things said--or not said,
the kinds of questions answered--or not answered at all,
or not even asked, though a voice inside says,

"why?"

Its funny how gentle, little words win a grown-up heart,
or make it hurt because of all the things
so hard to say to a child.

  1. I write children' stories these days. My 5 year old granddaughter expects them every Thursday when I visit. It is wonderful writing for a child, imagining their world. My younger daughter is a children's librarian. I think I'll send her the link to this poem. It is a wonderful poem.
